The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions (The Catetchism of the Catholic Church 1131).
The sacraments give us the grace to be able to live the Christian life and to boldly and lovingly proclaim the Gospel message. To receive a sacament, you would need to go through a process of preparation and formation. Some sacraments you only receive once (Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage [until death], Holy Orders) while others you can receive more than once (Reconciliation, Eucharist, Anointing of the Sick). The process of preparation for each sacrament may look a little different depending on your stage of life and faith.
