  The Confirmation experience, along with Baptism and the Eucharist, is part of the initiation into the Catholic Church.
  
  Confirmation continues a journey started by Baptism. As Catholics, we believe Jesus promised us the help of the Holy Spirit. By becoming Confirmed in the Catholic Church, we are given the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and can share our beautiful Faith experiences with the world.
  
  The St. Pius X Confirmation Experience
  
  At St. Pius X, Confirmation prep classes are offered to our 11th grade students. The process begins with a student and parent meeting. Then there is an interview with our Priests, Deacons, or Confirmation Coordinator during the months of August and September. Then candidates attend an overnight retreat, in addition to classes. We will start the year with a Parent/Student Meeting. You may choose from one of the dates on the Confirmation Schedule. Confirmation prep sessions begin in September from 7:15 p.m.-8:45 p.m. Sunday evenings during the school year and are held until Confirmation in the spring.

  It is understood that the student must follow the rules and instructions of the chaperones and leaders. If a student fails to do so, the parent will be called. Drugs, alcohol, and other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will be a cause for immediate dismissal. Please be aware that legally, the group leader can search any person's room and/or possessions if there is suspicion of any illegal behavior. The student is required to stay for the duration of the retreat. Any questions can be directed to the Coordinator of Confirmation.

  CONFIRMATION SPONSOR INFORMATION
  
  A Confirmation sponsor in the Catholic Church must meet the following requirements:
  
  Be at least 16 years old.
  
  Have received the sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist.
  
  Not be a parent of the one to be confirmed.
  
  Lead “a life of faith in keeping with the function to be taken on.” In other words, Confirmation sponsors must be practicing Catholics in good standing.
  
  Be a fully initiated Roman Catholic (Baptized, Confirmed and has made First Communion).
  
  Regularly come to Sunday Mass and celebrate the sacraments.
  
  May be either a man or a woman. Sponsors do not have to be the same gender as the candidate.
