The Two Hearts Ministry is here to help! The Two Hearts Ministry exists to help individuals and families to be aware of the love that Jesus and Mary has for each and everyone one of us and all of humanity and to aim them have a greater devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Why devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary? What is it about the Hearts? The Heart of a person is their most intimate part of their being. All their joys, sorrows, works, are all a part of their hearts. By having a devotion to their hearts, you are stating that you want to have an intimate relationship with them. You want to learn from them so that you may know how to live a more Christian life. When we say we want to get to the heart of the matter, we mean that we want to get to the deepest level. That is what devotion to the Two Hearts is – a deep relationship with Jesus and Mary, and trusting in their Divine help for all your needs and your family’s needs.
The Two Hearts Ministry started in order to increase participation of our parish and community to the First Friday and First Saturday Devotions. The First Friday devotion is associated with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, while the First Saturday devotion is associated with the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Each First Friday and First Saturday of the month, we must make a Communion of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. That's what Jesus and Mary have asked of us: to repair the sins of the world with prayer and penance for the conversion of sinners and for peace throughout the world. You can think of it almost like a novena which is prayed on consecutive days for a particular intention, but instead, these devotions are performed on consecutive months for the particular intention of reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, respectively. The devotions are similar in that they call on the faithful to "stand in the gap" by doing penance for sinners, and both give a special promise of Divine assistance at the hour of death, that is, the promise of dying in a state of grace and therefore obtaining heaven.
FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTION
Nine consecutive Fridays in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690), a French nun in the Visitation Order, and gave her the special task to spread devotion to His Most Sacred Heart at a time when religion was growing cold in the hearts of mankind.
Jesus asked for special prayers and practices to make amends (reparation) for this great neglect to the proper reverence owed to God.
CONDITIONS TO FULFILL THE FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTION
FIRST
Receive Holy Communion on nine consecutive first Fridays of the month.
SECOND
Having the intention, at least implicitly, of making reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for all the sinfulness and ingratitude of men.
FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION
Five consecutive Saturdays in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The practice of the First Saturday devotion was requested by Our Lady of Fatima, who appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, multiple times starting in 1917. She said to Lucia, the oldest of the three children: “I shall come to ask . . . that on the First Saturday of every month, Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins of the world"
CONDITIONS TO FULFILL THE FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION
There are five requirements to obtain this promise from the Immaculate Heart of Mary. On five consecutive first Saturdays of the month, one should:
FIRST
Have the intention of consoling the Immaculate Heart in a spirit of reparation.
SECOND
Go to confession within eight days before or after the first Saturday.
THIRD
Receive Holy Communion.
FOURTH
Say five decades of the Holy Rosary.
FIFTH
Meditate for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary with the goal of keeping Our Lady company
GREATER DIFFICULTY, GREATER REWARD
While keeping up with these devotions over five or nine consecutive months is not easy, the reward for making the effort is eternal.
So, resolve to make the effort to do one or the other (or both) of these devotions, and pray for the grace to follow through to the end.
God always gives the grace to those who wish to faithfully accomplish his requests. There are also many opportunities to make reparations for sins against the Two Hearts through out the day. Mary told the children of Fatima that we can, “Make sacrifices for sinners, and say often, especially while making a sacrifice: “O Jesus, this is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners and in reparation for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

"Jesus knew and loved us each and all during his life, his agony, and his Passion and gave himself up for each one of us...He has loved us all with a human heart. For this reason, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pierced by our sins and for our salvation, is quite rightly considered the cheif sign and symbol of that...love with which the divine Redeemer continutally loves the eternal Father and all human beings without execption."
